The Denver Bulldogs started the season with a win. The condition were overcast, hot and wet. The game was very competitive and played in good spirit. Today’s match was played at 8660 feet above see level which would mean it was the second highest ever recorded match. Playing at altitude is no joke and every doggie earnt their kicks today. Both doggie teams scrapped it out all day. The Bogota team was quick and had a “red hot crack”.
Jeremy O’Connell captained the side today and it was a pleasure seeing his massive beard around the field. New recruits Tom Crameri and Marcus Colby were ball magnets through the midfield. Mike LeValley didnt miss a beat down forward. Lachie Fleet was serviceable kicking a lazy 8 goals. John Clayton continued where he left off last season as a powerhouse down back and up forward. Steve McVickers had one of his best games and looked like he had a ball on a string. Paddy Devlin didn’t stop running today and was amongst the best on ground.
Congratulations to Spencer Summers who had a great day in the backline. He was award the rookie of the game award. Thomas Crameri shredded it the whole day and won Best on Ground Honors.
Columbia were fantatic and Jezza the Denver captian mentioned they all had a “red hot crack”. The Bulldogs will bring the first battle of the bulldog ‘Dog Bowl’ back home to Denver.
