Denver Bulldogs vs Oklahoma Football Club

The bulldogs welcomed an undermanned squad from Oklahoma and lent them enough players to fill a squad. We would like to thank those dogs who helped out OFC. The Denver side also welcomed back club legend Ben Harling back into the team. He add some valuable experience to the forward line after spending a lengthy stint on the sideline due to injury.

The bulldogs start the match with an all Australian forward line. The midfielders start the game quick getting it in long to the forwards who capitalized early giving the dogs a handy lead during the first break. Kirky, Tait, Fleety, Jezza and Tom would provide the Oklahoma defense with real trouble early in the game. Nick, Dave and Cam continued to push the play gritty footy tackling and pushing the ball forward at all costs.Fleety took strong Marks and kicked some long goals.

The second quarter would bring more of the same as the dogs rotated players heavily off the bench. Harko decide to head to the bench and coach from the sideline and Fleety moved over to help the Oklahoma guys out but ended up spending lengthy time on the pine. Denver Bulldog life member Ben Harling strolled onto the ground and kicked a goal for the dogs. The bulldogs went into half time with a big lead.

Harko decided to give the Denver rookies plenty of game time in the second half. Oklahoma would come out after half time and play some good footy. The rain started falling and Oklahoma pushed the ball forward kicking a few goals and out scoring Denver in the third quarter.Junior Fleety started racking up positions through the midfield, while Garth, Marcum and Jared control he half backline and helped get the dogs back controlling the game.

During three quarter time break coaches Harko and Wads asked the players to finish the game off strong. David and Nick kept running and their will and desire to earn the footy showed above all. The bulldogs attacked from the half back line with run and piled on more goals, running the game out and finishing the match with a 59 point victory. Bposey, Lukey, Danu, Tyler and Elvis all great games while helping out Oklahoma.Without a doubt the stand out bulldog on the ground was Jimmy Russ who cleaned up and controlled the half back line. Jimmy picked up the players cup for best a field in his first game with the dogs.

We would like to thank all our fans and family who came out to support the boys. We also thank the Oklahoma boys for making the trip and we looking forward to our road trip next year.
